Nutritional medicine

Nutritional medicine uses nutrients and dietary approaches to treat a wide variety of ailments and to support the body’s natural healing mechanisms. Many ailments respond to therapeutic dosages of nutrients that may be lacking in the diet or are poorly absorbed or utilized by the body. Although nutritional medicine is not for the treatment of cancer, it can be of benefit for cancer patients as nutritional status is often affected by both the disease and its medical treatment. Poor nutritional status has been shown to adversely affect treatment outcomes in cancer patients.
