General counselling

Counselling is a collaborative journey undertaken in a safe, caring and respectful environment for individuals who are experiencing difficulties in their life. It is not about being told what to do or how to live your life. Rather counselling offers the opportunity to see your situation through “fresh eyes” and to be reminded of your own innate strengths. A diagnosis of cancer often brings to fore a range of issues and emotional responses that are challenging for both the cancer patient and their families. For many it is when treatment ends that anxiety increases – just when family and friends are expecting you to “move on”. Being able to talk through your experiences can give a great deal of relief as can exploration of practical coping strategies. Our counsellors are all highly trained professionals experienced in cancer specific counselling.
